You’re probably sabotaging yourself today and don’t know it. Let’s change that. The good news is that it’s a simple fix.
The Issue: Self-Blame
A lot of people I work with have accidentally set themselves up for failure even though they’re good, talented, and smart people! They blamed themselves for not accomplishing what they wanted. When they felt overwhelmed, they thought something was wrong with THEM . If they procrastinated, they told themselves they were lazy.
But here’s the thing.
The overwhelm and procrastination had nothing to do with them. And it has nothing to do with you either.
Phew – am I right?
Why
Most people use squishy words when creating their to-do list, goals, and vision. These are words like:
❌ Work less
❌ Exercise more
❌ Eat better food
Less, more, better. Like a raw bread dough (sourdough perhaps?) these are words that won’t hold their shape on a to-do list, goals list, or vision board. People who use these words can often feel like they are grinding away or spinning their wheels. That’s because these are goals or to-do list items that are really hard to tick off your list. How would you know when you’ve achieved less, more, or better?
The Solution
You need to bake the the words: define what those squishy words mean. Here are some small tweaks to make them tick-able.
✅ Work a maximum of 60 hours a week
✅ Exercise for 30 minutes, three days a week
✅ Include at least two veggies in my lunches
These are goals that will hold their shape.
